Good evening on a very rainy 1-May 2021. Only a few weeks ago I submitted my name to run for the Dripping Spring Independent School District Board of Trustees. Today the final votes are tallied, and the results are that Mary Jane Hetrick, Shannon O’Connor, and Stefani Reinold have won the votes for the three open seats.
The race was remarkably close and was largely driven by pent-up frustration caused by the COVID pandemic of the last year.
I want to specifically congratulate Stefani Reinold to the new board position. Although I don’t know her well, I’m excited to see her contributions to the Board’s new 5-year strategic plan in such a fast-growing area.
Both the new Board and the Community must work hard to rebuild trust. This will require long-term commitments, open communications, and collaboration between the District and parents. All members of the community, myself included, must work together to help the Board be successful.
I want to thank everyone who tirelessly worked with my first exposure of running for a public office. Not only have I been blown away with everyone’s energy and passion, my wife and I have made many new friends through the process.
It has been such an honor to have this experience with the community.
Thank you.
